The cleanability of laser etched surfaces with repeated fouling using Staphylococcus aureus and milk

Biofouling is a serious problem in the food industry, and one way to control biofouling using topographically patterned surfaces. This vitro study used laser surface texturing process produce six differently topographies which were analysed for their topography wettability with repeated fouling cleaning. The surfaces spray-inoculated Staphylococcus aureus suspended either sterile distilled water or whole milk, then spray-cleaned chlorinated, alkaline cleaner. cleaned up 20 times changes properties biofouling. Analysis of Variance was assess effect main factors two-way interactions. Principal component analysis discern underlying relationships. There no significant differences (T-Tests) overall level between different rippled sub-textures. spiked showed increase number cleans but predominantly influenced by texture sub-type. less regular within medium range lowest levels biofouling, even demonstrated that use such studies may reduce particular attention needs be given design.
